Aadhaar has been in a stretch of controversies and legal battles since its introduction. No matter, whether you subscribe to Aadhaar or not, you cannot ignore it. A large number of people have come out and expressed their views on the dangers of a massive collection of personal and highly sensitive data without the right security measures. From last one year or so, the telecom companies, service providers, banks, schools, etc. have linked the 12-digit Aadhaar number to their services. Aadhaar is mandatory from getting a mobile sim card to filing your income tax to collecting your pension. Here is how you can delink aadhaar after the latest Supreme Court verdict.
Over the last few months, various service providers, which include banks, telecom service providers, schools, and even some hospitals have taken every measure to link the 12-digit unique identity number to their services. From getting a SIM card to filing taxes to even getting your pension, Aadhaar details were mandatory, and applicants had no choice but to comply.
Until the Supreme Court’s direction, there was no coherence or clarity on what kind of services must mandatorily need the Aadhaar number to be linked. So, if you have linked Aadhaar to the unnecessary services and you want to revoke the consent to that service,
this post is for you.
Here are the instructions for de-link your Aadhaar from a service.
Let’s suppose you want to de-link Aadhaar from a bank or a telecom provider.
1. First, you need to make a phone call to the customer care support of your bank or telecom service provider.
2. Bank or telecom provider will ask you to send an e-mail request for de-linking you Aadhaar details from your mobile service provider or bank account.
3. You’ll receive an e-mail in some time that your request is under the process. You’ve to attach a soft copy of your Aadhaar card which you want them to de-link.
4. You’ll get an email within three days about the de-linking of your Aadhaar card.
The email requests have made things super fast. I would have been an uphill battle to submit paper forms to various service providers for de-linking your Aadhaar card.
