10 Muslims Who Have Made Whole India Proud

“All of us do not have equal talent. Yet, all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.” These words have rightly been quoted by Mr. Ratan Tata. India is a land of different cultures, religions, and people come from a variety of backgrounds. Each culture renders people with immense talent which garlands and nourishes India with a variety of skills.

The multi-cultural lingual of our country is the only reason that India has delivered many such talented faces which have made us proud. But when we come to talk about a particular region, Indian Muslim community is one such group of people who have flourished the country with their talent and hard work. While there are hundreds of such great personalities, but we have listed the some of them here.Looking at the list we felt they are Indian first, religion doesn’t even cross our mind.

1.APJ ABDUL KALAM

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a prominent Indian scientist served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. Renowned for his pivotal role in the nation’s civilian space programme and military missile development, he was known as the Missile Man of India. He made significant contributions to India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 which established him as a national hero. Immensely popular during his presidential term, he earned the pioneer of People’s President.

He was honored with several awards including the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Veer Savarkar Award, Ramanujan Award, among the few. On 27 July 2015, he died of a sudden cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. Several scientific and educational institutions and even Islands were renamed after him following his death.

2. SANIA MIRZA

One of the most popular tennis players, this woman has broken all fallacies that ablaze against Muslim girls. Sania Mirza has bagged many singles championships against her name and she has also won the Girls’ Doubles title at Wimbledon. She has been honored with many prestigious awards like Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, etc. She is regarded as one of the finest doubles players in the world and without any doubts one of the finest tennis players to have ever represented India. She is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik but represents India in tennis, that speaks volume.

 

3. A.R. RAHMAN

Although he needs no introduction but here it is. This Hindu turned Muslim Indian composer, singer, songwriter and musician never fail to enchant us with his soothing and mesmerizing voice. Whether he sings, writes or even plays an instrument, he always excels in every field transferring us completely in the state of tranquillity. Born in Chennai he is popularly known as the ‘Mozart of Madras’. He has given many beautiful hits to India including ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ including many other hits. He has bagged many national as well as international awards like Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Grammy Award, Vijay Award, etc.

4. YUSUF HAMIED

Many of us don’t know about him much but he is a man who saves thousands of lives today. No, he isn’t a doctor. This billionaire Indian scientist and businessman is the chairman of Cipla pharmaceuticals which is best known for providing affordable drugs for various diseases. He has been the Managing Director for Cipla for nearly 52 years and has bagged many achievements which include Padma Bhushan for the fight against AIDS and the CNN-IBN Indian of the year Business Award.

5. USTAD ZAKIR HUSSAIN

Ustad Zakir Hussain, is undoubtedly the most famous Tabla player of India and he is popularly known as the ‘Tabla Maestro’ or the ‘Tabla Man’ of our country. His immense talent is not only popular in India but the echoes of his Tabla sounds also reverberates all over the world. He has even composed music for many movies like ‘In Custody’, ‘Heat and Dust’ naming a few for which he won many accolades like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Kalidas Samman, Grammy Award, etc.

6. ABDUL HAMID

Havildar Abdul Hamid is Indian Army’s one of the most celebrated and revered soldiers of all time. Many of us don’t know but this Param Vir Chakra Awardee who died in 1965 defending our country during the Indo-Pak war had destroyed eight Pakistani Patton tanks with his 106 recoilless guns and it was recorded in the history. He is honored as the Tank Buster of the Army.

7. MOHAMMED RAFI

The greatest playback singer with most different and varied styles of music along with the perfect of melodies and all the beautiful ‘Sur’ and ‘Taal’ which you can hum anytime you want. Yes, we are talking about none other than but Mohammed Rafi. He is very well known for his versatility in music as well as all the soulful songs he delivered to the music industry as well as the film industry. We can never be tired of listening to his songs like ‘Kya Hua Tera Vaada’ and ‘Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe’.

Along with lyrics and screenwriting, he writes beautiful Urdu poetry which is reflected in his works like ‘Tarkash’, ‘Lava’ and many more. He has received many film awards along with many prestigious awards like Padmabhushan, Avadh Ratna, and Indira Gandhi award.
